The award-winning course in Schmallenberg-Winkhausen is divided into three 9-hole courses with different profiles, which can be combined as desired. Beginners and ambitious golfers alike will feel at home on the East Course at Schmallenberg Golf Club. While some longer holes and spectacular tee shots, such as those on Hole 2, await players, as do water hazards and the occasional hill, the East Course almost always offers plenty of space and mostly user-friendly greens. The Wilzenberg mountain is always in view on the West course. The elevation changes and climbs are significantly more moderate than on the other two courses, and the West Course is easily playable without a cart for all ages and fitness levels. Hole 4 is the true signature hole of this round. Here, the large pond awaits as a truly remarkable water hazard, visible from the road as you approach, and only long hitters can play over it on the tee. In terms of terrain, the North Course is arguably the most challenging course at Schmallenberg Golf Club. After a spectacular tee shot on hole 1, the course descends into the valley, before climbing the Sauerland mountains all the way to the slate village of Holthausen from hole 4 onward. But the views and the excellent panorama, with sweeping vistas over Schmallenberg and other villages, as well as the Wilzenberg mountain, are breathtaking. Enjoy the Sauerland in all its facets on this course and be sure to watch out for the recurring water hazards in the form of streams and a large pond. The successful mix of well-balanced hazards and topographical challenges, with relatively wide fairways and controlled rough areas for most of the year, rightly makes this course a favorite among golfers. The open short course with 6 attractive holes is the perfect introduction to golf for beginners with no previous experience.
