Newcastle United Golf Club
For more than 125 years, Newcastle United Golf Club has welcomed golfers to the moorland a stone’s throw from the heart of the North East’s biggest city. While the club’s origins date back to 1892 and to a course laid out on the Town Moor by Tom Morris Snr, today it occupies a course on Nuns Moor, which was opened in 1973. Measuring 6,600 yards from the back tees and with a par of 72, the course is a regular host of Northumberland County Golf Union events and matches – including a number of memorable County Championships – the last won by James Wilson in 2020. A formidable test in the height of summer, the moorland course is defended by its tall rough; long par fours and fives; and challenging, undulating greens and continues to present a stern test of golfing skill and serve as a proving ground for champions.
